Women Shelter

The program started when a group of women volunteers dream of trying to helped women especially homeless women for shelter, food, and other supports that they needed. The mission of the Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center is to empower women and children to move from the streets to a home by providing ongoing and intensive counseling, case management services, transitional housing and a safe daytime refuge. It offers free services to any homeless woman and her children. Women can access WDDC services by dropping in Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

Ebonics

Ebonics came from the ebony word which means a very hard dark wood of a tropical tree, used especially for making furniture. The ebony ties with ebonics because of the connection of the word of definition and it means 'black speech' (a blend of the words ebony 'black' and phonics 'sounds').

Mystical Raven

Raven is a large heavily built crow with mainly black plumage, feeding chiefly on carrion. It has long been considered a bird of ill omen and of interest to creators of myths and legends. Raven is considered both negative and positive in every beliefs of every places. But mostly, raven is known for being bad and they have an aura of negativity because of the color and sound of it.

An emotional appeal is used to sway the emotions of an audience to make them support the speaker's argument. Attempt through the use of emotion in order to persuade people, community, corporations and etc. to achieve an issue you want to oppose or a counter argument over the issue in terms of emotional appeal. The emotional appeal was used long before hundred of years in courts and certain events to appeal a certain argument or an issue characterized by the use of loaded language and concepts.

People knows what is the idea of witchcraft, but they don’t know the true meaning of it. Modern-Day Witch is the act of unfairly looking for and punishing people who are accused of having opinions that are believed to be dangerous or evil. Most people think that witch hunt isn’t real and a myth that still uncover. It is just an urban legend that have many speculations that are falsely untrue. Unfortunately, these belief set an alarming perspective that still occurred around the world where innocent people are attacked and killed accused of being a witchcraft.

The Hmong have remained identifiable as Hmong because they have maintained their own language, customs, and ways of life while adopting the ways of the country in which they live. In order to keep their cultural beliefs some non-profitable organizations try to uplift Hmong culture and help Hmong community.

Every culture has beliefs about health, disease, treatment, and health care providers. How do we measure being healthy? What are the cultural differences when it comes to staying and other practices?

Recent article of The Wall Street Journal - What’s Holding Women Back in the Workplace? by Nikki Waller and Joann S. Lublin talks about what really occurs towards women at their workplace. In the article, many women that work at companies are less likely have fewer opportunities than men. Most women careers are being left out so they could spend more time caring for family which they need to be at home. According to the article, some 86% of men said that women have as many or more opportunities than men do.

The night of Friday 13 of November is tragic to remember for many of us. Many people died because of the terrorist attacks by the gunmen and suicide bombers hit a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars. Shootings and bomb blasts left 130 people dead and hundreds wounded, with more than 100 in a critical condition. The Islamic State (ISIS) militant group was behind all of the multiple terrorist attacks that happened in Paris. Others are fortunate who get away with the attacked but for those people who got caught in the event lost their loved ones unexpectedly.

American Dream

American Dream is the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal rights and opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. This whole term that was used is totally a lie. Many US citizen disagree with this terminology because not everybody have equal opportunity and rights when it comes to career and basically life. American Dream wasn’t meant for everyone.
