For this assignment we were told to shoot a series. I had started out wanting to do a children’s happiness series, and what is a better was of doing that then taking pictures of little kids on a playground? I lost the opportunity to do this the weekend before it was due so I decided to take pictures of my friends skateboarding. This was definitely not as interesting to me. So the next day I left school during lunch and did my series of the little kids. I think that I definitely caught the moment because the kids look completely euphoric.

Most of these pictures look somewhat a like, which also supports the series idea. They are all set off to the side of the photo on third lines. This is good because I don’t like the “bulls eye” look. I was shooting in all of the same lighting, so all of them had the same compositional elements in terms of color scheme. This also made it easier to print because they all used about the same time in the enlarger. I did not face many challenges printing besides having to burn and dodge in mostly the same places on all of the photos. If I could have changed something about the pictures it would be that if I had more time I would spot tone the chemical spill on the picture “Glee.”

All of these pictures have different titles because they are in the series but they all represent the same idea of emotion, all based around happiness. The first photo is called “Jubilant,” this is of the girl pointing. The second is called, “Glee,” this is of the girl going down the slide. The third photo is called, “Contentment,” this is of the girl who looks very thoughtful. The fourth is called, “Euphoria,” this is of the girl laughing. The firth is called “Bliss,” this is of the close up of the small girls face. When people walk away from this series I want them to be smiling to themselves reminiscing of past days when they use to think the playground was the best place in the world.

I thought that this was a very interesting post. It sounds like a fun project shooting a series of photos. The black and white that you used in the photo makes it seem like it is an old baby picture that a grandma or mother would show to her child. Good job! It's beautiful!
